Day 102

Today's Lesson:

I share God's Will for happiness for me.

The old belief we had that suffering buys us something we want has been shaken now, at least enough to let us question and, and to suspect it really makes no sense. It is not gone yet, but it lacks the roots that once secured it tightly to the dark and hidden secret places of our minds.

Today we will realize that pain is purposeless, without a cause and with no power to accomplish anything. It offer nothing, and does not exist. We have been slave to nothing. Today we are free to join the happy Will of God.

We cannot fail to find that happiness when we learn it is our choice, and that we share God's Will. Our only function here is happiness. We have no need to be less loving to God's Son than He Whose Love created him as loving as Himself. Besides our hourly five-minute rests, we are to pause frequently today, to tell ourselves that we have now accepted happiness as our one function, and to be sure that we are joining with God's Will in doing this.

Miracles I'm noticing:

I'm thinking today about the constitution which guarantees us inalienable rights including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But it never guarantees that we will find that happiness - it only guarantees us the pursuit. Maybe that's our problem. We are on a constant hunt for this elusive happiness. Today's lesson tells us that this is our choice and if we're not happy it's because we believe our suffering buys us what we really want. So the second problem we face is deciding for ourselves once and for all what it is we really want.

That is always a tough question for people. If we were asked what we really want, most people would eventually come up with something, but it would probably be "stuff." We really do believe that "stuff" will make us happy. I know I've been raised to believe that we need to suffer in this lifetime because we will get our reward in heaven.

Today's lesson says that happiness can be our choice right here, right now. That's the premise of my book The 100% Factor. We can choose to expand our capacity which is right now today, or we can remain hopeful of reaching our potential, which is someday in the future, but not right now. Choosing happiness each morning can and does give us a completely different experience of our time on earth. Are we physical beings on this planet or are we spiritual beings have a physical experience? I choose that one.

I loved this morning's lesson. Further into the lesson it states "Here is your peace, and here there is no fear. Here is salvation. Here is rest at last". The corresponding text in the Course today opens with "Nothing beyond yourself can make you fearful or loving, because nothing is beyond you". Our happiness resides within and only when we get away from the Mind of God do we forget this and pain sets in. In order to forget this it means we had to know it first. By getting quiet and tapping into His voice everyday, we remember who we are and hear God's will for us...happiness, joy, forgiveness and salvation. God comes to a quiet mind. When we remember who we are, we are activated from a point of authenticity and not ego.

Gina

Gina: Great point ... if we have forgotten, it means we had to have known it first. What a great "reminder"! It helps us connect with GOD, which is our natural state, outside of our ego mind that wants to keep us from that quiet connection. Thank you so much for your take on today's lesson!!

Hi Jodee,

I've just discovered this blog, and have to say that I have only read a few posts. Thank you for sharing your daily miracles with the world.

I wanted to offer the thought that we are God. The illusion is that we are disconnected "from God" and from each other.

As a result, people often waste considerable time and energy trying to appease a fickle, elusive God who wields the power to grant us heavenly grace or a punitive hell.

When we release the notion of God's will being separate from our own, then we come to understand that our power is limitless. What we want for ourselves is what "He" wants for us because the desire is the same.

We can be happy in "The Now" rather than putting our life and living on hold in hopes of some imaginary future.

I think this is also the essence of what Gina communicated.....except that there is no room or need for forgiveness (except perhaps of ourselves for not recognizing our greatness). What is there to forgive? At our core, we are perfect, complete, whole.

It's only our ego identity that seeks always to confuse us and make us fearful to know who we really are: God.

Warmly,

Tshombe

It's no coincidence that what you wrote here was a big part of our dialogue on Tuesday night at our Course in Miracles gathering. We talked about what it means for us to be God, not be "like" God. We talked about how our old ideas would have us believe that it is arrogant to possibly believe we could be God; however, God created us in His image, not the other way around. As for forgiveness - if we have not sinned, there should be no need for forgiveness; however, the way we're learning about forgiveness is to "give before," or to love someone before there is any need to think otherwise. After all, there is only love or fear. Another way I've been thinking about forgiveness is to think "thank you FOR GIVING this to me" whenever I experience something which teaches me a lesson or calls my attention. It helps me focus much more on gratitude, which is all about love.

Thank you so much for adding your wisdom here! I'm very grateful that we've connected with both my blogs!

Hi Jodee,

Yes, I'm very glad to have connected with you through this blog as well!

I really appreciate your response here. How funny (or not-so-funny) how tenacious our mind (and past conditioning) is at trying to convince us of our separateness! When we stop to think about it (which is problem number 1: we think too much), how in the world can recognizing that we are God and living accordingly (What abundance!) be arrogant?

Does the Queen of England believe she is arrogant when she proclaims in her life that she is the Queen of England? Does a world-renown chef of the highest skill and talent feel a pang of guilt and unworthiness because of who he is?

How limiting, then, to deny our own divinity. No wonder we often struggle to accomplish great things.

I dare say, perhaps even the word "God" has become an impediment to fully disengaging from the conditioning of this world, from the collective and individual ego-mind, and from the fallacy of separateness and disconnect.

Also, I love how you re-frame "forgiveness" from a concept associated with imperfection and sin to one of complete, unconditional love.

That's so empowering and creative to think of 'giving before' or 'fore giving'.

Equally amazing is the joyful and expansive idea of gratitude, as in "thank you for giving this to me."

What a great dialogue you've created. Thank you, Jodee.
