Day 92

Today's Lesson:

Miracles are seen in light, and light and strength are one.

Today's lesson reminds us that the body's eyes are not how we really see and the body's brain is not how we really think. It is God's strength in us that is the light in which we see, as it is His Mind with which we think. His strength denies our own weakness. This strength allows us to see beyond the weak, sickly and dying, sad, poor and joyless. This strength allows us to see the light beyond what our body's eyes see. It allows us to see beyond the past.

Strength is the truth about us; weakness is an idol falsely worshipped and adored. Strength comes from truth, and shines with light its Source has given it; weakness reflects the darkness of its maker. Weakness separates itself from what it sees, while light and strength perceive themselves as one.

The strength in us will offer us the light, and guide our seeing so we do not dwell on idle shadows that the body's eyes provide for self-deception.

Miracles I'm noticing:

I went to the movie The Peaceful Warrior last night (thanks to Best Buy for providing free tickets!). This was a great example of the strength that can be found in us when we see through our Source's light. The movie is about a college gymnast who is haunted by a feeling that something is missing from his life. Awakened one night by dark dreams, he wanders into an all-night gas station. There he meets an old man he calls Socrates, and his world is changed forever. He begins a spiritual odyssey into realms of light and shadow, romance and mystery. His journey leads him toward a final confrontation that will deliver or destroy him. The movie is based on true events - it's up to us to determine which are true.

I learned a lot from Socrates (played, in the movie, by Nick Nolte). If you haven't seen the movie, check it out. I can't wait until it comes out on DVD so I can watch it again.

So this movie points out today's lesson quite nicely. Dan, the gymnast in the movie, is seeing his life through his body's eyes and can't sleep at night. Socrates points out that maybe he has been sleeping his whole life. As we can begin to understand that light and strength are one - and that miracles are seen in light, we can begin to notice more miracles in our own lives. We just have to be awake.
